Citizenship Future Wedding and Name Change

Post by cropcircles » Sun Aug 27, 2017 7:20 pm

Hi all

Planning to apply for naturalisation based on 12 months of IRL in October 2017.
However, I'll be getting married in April 2018 to a BC and quite possibly will be changing my name (still debating).
The two events are completely unrelated, I am not using our relationship as a basis to apply for citizenship but I'm wondering if the name changing will interfere in any way or if there are any rules to account for that etc.

Thanks in advance!

You should have citizenship by then assuming you meet all the requirements.

Once you are married, simply apply for a new passport in your new name.
