Traveling to India

Hi

I have I have indian passport. I have been staying in US for MANY YEARS and I have not visited india for last 8 years. I don't have much indian connection as my parents are dead. I have some questions for you:
1. will immigration officer ask, why I have not visited india for such a long time.
2. I can see on my passport that last exit stamp at delhi airport is almost unreadable (any need to worry).
3. Can i renew my passport in USA, if I have not visited India for such a long time.

Please help!
