At the visa application centre they've told me the standard processing time for this location would be 10 days, I've received confirmation from UKVI Sheffield on the 30th of August and haven't heard from them since. Today I rang UKVI up and they said visa processing times have been extended/delayed up to 30 working days and there's nothing they can do. My course starts on the 25th, CAS number is still marked as assigned and not used. UKVI also said that they've employed lots of new staff to deal with the tier 4 backlog, so hopefully we'll all get our visas soon. I haven't waited for half as long as you guys but this waiting game is creating so much anxiety good luck everyone!!
I rang them up using the international enquiries number provided and the lady I spoke to said that it's a very busy period for them, and they're aware that there are a lot of tier 4 applicants waiting so they've hired more staff to deal with this backlog. Not sure if she was saying that just to comfort me or if that's the truth. They've also told me to call back next week and that's when they will be able to escalate the case
