Second (spouse) visa requirements

Post by NSDM » Tue Sep 05, 2017 4:30 pm

Hello,

I'm living in the UK for over two years on a spouse visa.
In a few weeks I will need to apply for the second visa.

Is there a list of requirements someone can direct me to please?

We were told we need proof that we've been living together in the form of official letters addressed to both of us.
I don't know how many things are addressed to both of us except the council tax, water, electric.
The main issue here is that most of these don't send regular paper statuses.

We do have a shared savings account but we're not getting any paperwork from it and there's nothing much to print online since it doesn't actually show both our names on it.

Any ideas, suggestions and/or explanations will be appreciated.

Thanks

Have you read through the FLR(M) form and guidance notes yet to understand what you need??

Page 63/64 is particularly useful with examples of documents HO expect to see.

I have just now... thanks.

One thing I didn't quite understand is that before the first visa I needed to pass an English test which I have but reading through the form now it seems that I need to pass another one again?

Yes, the English requirement changed in May this year. You now need A2 English test from an HO approved test provider.

I've read through the entire document but I can't see anything regarding how "old" can the English test be.
The requirement for the first visa was that the test must not be older than 2 months prior to the application date.
I’m not sure if that’s still a requirement at all.

With regards to the general requirements... the only things I've seen are:
Financial (minimum of 18,600)
Flat/rent (of over 6 months)
My Passport
Passport photographs of both myself and my wife
A scan of my wife's passport (does it need to be signed by a lawyer?)
English (A2) as well as it’s online code
Proof that we've been living and paying bills together

* All in original documents

Did I miss anything?

I will appreciate it if anyone could shad some light on a few things:

1) Since most bills are being paid online and monthly receipts/statuses are getting rarer the only thing I can do is print them off from the websites but then it will not be an original. Will it suffice?
2) Are there any other documents that will contribute such as photos from the past two years, etc?

Many thanks for your assistant.

I don't believe it ever was a requirement as they are usually valid for 2 years. You might be thinking of the validity of other important documents like TB cert or income evidence.

You need to provide evidence of cohabitation and subsisting relationship for the 2 years immediately preceding your extension application. Page 63/64 of the FLR(M) form gives examples of what HO expect to see. Not sure what you mean by 'flat/rent (of over 6 months)'?? Your wife's passport depends on how you are applying (in person or by post).

1. You need as many originals as you can get. Read the form.
2. No you don't need 'couple photos'.

A few more questions please…

I tried to figure out how many letters addressed to each one of us individually and how many addressed to both of us together are needed.
I’m still unsure.
It says 6 from 3 sources but what does that mean?

It says we are required to have at least three different sources and have it evenly spread out throughout the two year period but what does that mean?
Does it mean that each source (for instance a bank statement) should be shown for every year or does it mean that we can have a bank statement from two years ago and a council tax from this year and that that is “evenly spread out”?

SOURCES:

As for our tenancy agreement: I wasn’t on it last year because my wife was already living in this house before I moved to the UK and after I moved our land lord asked us if we mind for it to stay the same instead of her going to a lawyer and having to pay money. Since at the time we had no idea we will even need the tenancy agreement as proof we agreed.
This year (knowing better) I asked to be added.
What can I do about that?
Will a letter from our land lord explaining it help?

Television and house phone:
We don’t have them.

Mobile phones:
We don’t have contracts. Just sims you add money to whenever you need.

DLVA / driving licences:
My wife doesn’t have one and while I do (from my country) I haven’t gone through the whole process because if to be honest it takes time, money and we simply don’t need them right now since part of my wife’s work privileges we both have free travel on public transportation.

Council Tax:
We’re both on it for the whole two years

Joint savings account:
We started one this year so we have a bank statement addressed to both of us as proof but again that’s only from this year.

NPower:
They only register their accounts to one person so it’s on my wife’s name

Thames Water:
They only register their accounts to one person so it’s on my wife’s name

General bank statements for each one of us separately:
We have all of them for the whole two year period and more.

GP:
We have general letters addressed to each of us separately throughout the two year period

Paycheck:
Since my wife is the sponsor we have her pay checks for the whole two year period on a monthly basis as well as other work related letters but I’m not sure if those are accepted

NINO:
I’ve asked the NINO to send me a confirmation letter last year and this year so I have both of those letters addressed to myself.

English test for A2 level:
Haven’t done it yet but it looks quite easy.
The one I passed two years ago was significantly harder, longer and I got quite a high score.

Are these sufficient?
What else can we include?

Thank you
