Spouse visa Cairo

My husband applied from Cairo to come to the Uk I sent docs to Sheffield and he applied in Cairo. Applied 11th may
Ackn email rec'd same day 11th may
Docs rec'd in Sheffield 17th may.
No news and case escalated 6 August told to wait 15 days and I called back told again wait another 15 days.
Anyone had similar experience?

Also I am on maternity leave and due back to work next month but doubt I can go back as husband was going to look after our baby for a few months until he finds work.

Anyone can advice on anything I can do to sleep things up?
