Question about 30 Day Vignette

Post by gratiaDei777 » Thu Sep 07, 2017 2:53 pm

Dear All,

When my wife receives her passport back with a 30 day vignette, is she allowed to visit another country before entering the UK?

We are currently in Korea (where we applied for my wife's UK Spouse Visa), and are thinking about visiting Spain/France before entering the UK. We intend to enter the UK within the 30 days in any case, obviously!

Will the Immigration staff not look kindly upon such a detour?
(I just think that the fewer times my wife goes abroad after receiving her BRP, the better; one fewer thing to explain when applying for her next visa!)

[Dear Mods: This post isn't about my wife's application (which has been submitted), but is about a new topic, about vignettes, so I hope you don't mind me starting a new thread. Thanks]

Her UK visa has absolutely nothing to do with visiting other countries.

If she has a Schengen visa for Europe, then she is free to travel to Europe if she wishes to. But she must enter the UK before her 30 day visa expires.

She is also free to travel in and out the UK during her 5 year residence. There is NO restriction on travel or any absence limit.

P.S. we don't need another long running topic to moderate so if I have answered your questions, kindly acknowledge my response and I will lock the thread.
