Letter of invite required? (Zimbabwean wife with limited leave to remain in UK visiting Spanish friend)

Post by Lyttonwolf » Thu Sep 07, 2017 8:47 pm

Hi
I'm a UK national wanting to visit a friend in Spain with my Zimbabwean wife for a week in October 2017. In summary:
- my Zimbabwean wife has a UK Residence Permit, leave to remain as Spouse/Partner valid until 2019. She does not yet have indefinite leave to remain.
- Our friend is a UK national who has bought a place in Spain

I understand my wife will need to apply for a visa to visit Spain (please advise if otherwise).

Question: do we need a letter from our friend officially inviting us ("Letter of invitation from the host issued by the Police in Spain on an official document")? If so is this a hassle for our host to sort?

Any help/advice much appreciated.

Thanks
