Dependent of person on UK Ancestry

Post by Frederick » Sat Sep 09, 2017 8:08 pm

Hi,
Sorry to jump in on this topic but it seems I am in a similar situation. I moved to the U.K. on an ancestry visa in 2015. I had met my now wife earlier that year. She followed me over on a 2 year work visa (both Australian). Her visa recently ran out and so we got married and she had flown home to reapply as a dependent on my ancestry visa. All the paperwork is in but it has now been 3 months and we have not heard anything back. I am worried that we don't have enough evidence as we have no shared bank account or shared bills (bills have been included in rent). So will the fact that we are married hold more weight in the decision? Also what is the percentage of these types of visas that get knocked back?

I split your topic to avoid any confusion.

Did your spouse leave the UK before her visa expired?

She could have applied for the Ancestry dependent within the UK even if not married.

It is not a common visa that gets refused.

Yes my wife did leave the UK before her visa expired. I'm glad it's not a visa that often gets refused! I was worried because we have only been in a relationship for 2 years and it was difficult to prove with documents. How long does it usually take to get a response?

If married, there usually is no need to prove the 2 years cohabitation. This is specific to unmarried partners.

It honestly shouldn't take 3 months provided she meets all the requirements.

Did you/she definitely complete the correct form??

Did she pay the Immigration Health Surcharge?

These could be the only reason I can think of that there might be a delay.

What supporting documents did she submit with her application.
