Change in circumstances or not

Post by Djsuccess » Tue Sep 12, 2017 8:25 am

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help with my question. The building next to my company has been vacant for a couple of years. So as part of our company expansion, we recently signed a lease agreement for the building with the option/plan to buy it in few years' time. Our address is not changing, as the newly leased building will become part of the old building to form a bigger compound. And only one department will move into the building.
The move in date will be sometime early next year as the building has to undergo some minor reconstruction and partitioning to suit the department.

Should this be reported as a change in circumstances? if yes, at what stage should this be reported? Given that the agreement has been signed but the building will not be ready for use until early next year.
I am not a lawyer and do not claim to be one. All my comments here are based on my opinions, experience and interpretation of the appropriate UKVI guidance documents and immigration rules.

I believe this can be classified under "changes to your structure, such as more branches or sites". It can easily be reported via SMS.

Thank you. I thought as much but I'm not sure if we have to report it now or wait till the building renovation is completed and we start using it. We are not using it at the moment although we have already signed the lease agreement some weeks ago.

I think you should wait until you start using the building. There is no point reporting it now.
