Do I need a re-entry visa to leave and come back to Ireland with a Stamp 4?

Post by Marshall2016 » Thu Sep 21, 2017 12:40 pm

I recently received my GNIB card and temporary Stamp 4, valid until April 2018, while my residence card application is being processed as a non-EU spouse of an EU member. I am from the US originally.

My husband and I would love to pop over to his hometown of Cardiff and see family for a few days, but I'm unsure if I will need to first apply for a re-entry visa. I tried applying for an appointment for the visa online, but my country of origin (United States) was not on the list.

I'm wondering if I can easily travel in and out of Ireland without applying for a re-entry visa, using just my Stamp 4 and GNIB card, or if I will need to somehow go through the process of obtaining a re-entry visa.

If I don't need it, will I run into any trouble at the border coming back in? I'm starting a job here soon.

Thank you for your help.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're country is on the list of countries that don't need visa to enter Ireland it should be fine. I don't need a visa to visit Ireland, flew out to Austria with my wife and back a few weeks on a temporary Stamp 4 EUFAM.

Quote from the website;

'Re-Entry Visas

If you are a visa required national residing in Ireland with a valid permission to remain, you will need a re-entry visa to return to the State if you leave for a short period.'

It looks like OP does not need one because of his/her nationality.
