Unable to travel to UK within 30 days period

I wonder if you could please help me with my question below.

I would like to know what happen if you're unable to travel to Uk within the 30 days period you're given on your initial spouse due to some reasons beyond your personal control.

My wife is currently pregnant and she's unable to travel at the moment. What happen if you can't travel to UK within the 30 days period.

Has anyone experienced this this before?. I'd appreciate your assistance with this please as am not sure what to do.

I don't know if it's possible to contact the UKBA to have the visa extended.

I'd appreciate your advise on this .
