Tier 4 dependant/mistake in application

Post by Samed » Sat Oct 21, 2017 7:28 am

Hi everyone!
I have applied as a Tier 4 dependant civil partner. Biometrics and submission of docs on 13 Oct. Already got an e-mail from UKVI saying my application's waiting to be considered. Now I see a mistake I made, maybe two:

1) In thec"main applicant" section of my application form, I was asked "Is the main applicant in the UK?", and I answered "no" because we're in our home country and applying at the same time. Then, they asked "Where does the main applicant work/study?" Well, given that the question is in the present tense, I provided the address and contact details of his current job in our home country. They then ask the course/job start date and I typed "30 Oct 2010", referring to when he started at this job. Because I was in doubt on what exactly they wanted to know, in the "additional information" I explained something like what I am explaining here. I also provided, in "additional information", the address and contact details of the university of his intended course in the UK, but I forgot to mention the course start and end dates (though these are in his CAS, which I was required to provide).
Did I misunderstand their question? Was I confusing? Is there any further action I should take such as e-mailing them?

2) The second mistake is that he started at his current job in our home country on 30 April 2010, not October. I have no idea why I stated october, probably because we're in october and I just went for it automatically. In his own application, he provides documentary showing that he started at his present job in April 2010, whis is true and contradicting the information I provided.
Could this be seen as deception? If it is, will I be banned for 10 years? Can my entry clearance or even his own be refused due to my mistake? What do I need to do now? Maybe withdraw the application?

Sorry for the many questions. I am very honest and I am so stressed for my mistake, fearing the worst.

Any word would be great.

Thank you

The HO should use future tenses in the question if they want to know about the future.

No, although I don't understand how the dates of his current employment are relevant to his Tier 4 application anyway. Is there a question about this on the Tier 4 form?!

The exact questions are "WHAT IS THE ADDRESS WHERE THE MAIN APPLICANT
WORKS OR STUDIES?"
and

"WHAT IS THE START DATE OF THE JOB OR COURSE?"

They use the present tense in the questions right after I had answered that the main applican is not currently in the UK. I think these two questionsare very unhelpfully worded.

You misunderstood my question. I was asking about his Tier 4 application, not about your PBS Dependant application.

Oh! I'm sorry. No, there is not such a question on his form. However, he submitted documentary from his work with the correct start date (different from what I stated on my form) to show that he must return after the course. He's a civil servant in our country and was granted paid academic leave to pursue his PhD. He will continue getting his wages throughout the entire course, but formally agreed to return with his diploma and continue working at the same public university here for at least 4 years so that there is a return to the society after the money invested in his education. He was also granted a scholarship from our government, covering all his tuition fees and maintenance expenses for both of us.
His is a strong application, and I hope my mistakes on my form do not ruin everything.

There is no requirement on the form or in the immigration rules for an applicant to declare or prove that they will return after their course. This was an irrelevant addition to the application, which is never a good idea.

Oh! Too bad then. But what harm could it make? Why is it a bad idea?

It depends. The information would be disregarded because it is irrelevant, but if for example someone used a non-genuine document that would be a problem, even if the document was never relevant to the application.

I am very surprised. My advice was that it was not necessary to do anything at all, but as you wish.
