Advise on EEA children

Post by matt9063 » Fri Oct 27, 2017 12:41 pm

Hi All,

I need some advise on our children situation.

I am French national and have a document certifying Permanent Residence.
My wife, from South Korea, has recently recently her Permanent Residence Card (we have been living in UK and married for over 5 years).
I understand that our permanent residence under the EEA Regulations will become meaningless after Brexit and that we will have to register to another system to preserve our rights, but I am hoping that having these proofs will help in the transition process...

My question is about our children, I was wondering if I need to follow the same steps for them (i.e. apply for a residence card).
Our second son is born in the UK and is British citizen because our our PR status at the time of his birth. He is also French citizen. So I believe there is nothing more to be done?

Our first son is born in South Korea. He is French citizen and three years old. Should I apply for a residence card as the family member of a EEA national, or any other application?

Thank You,

Wise

What you have is enough for you alone to live in peace in United Kingdom come what may! You can as well apply for PR for the child born abroad if he/she has lived with you both, here in UK for 5 yrs, and after 1yr you can apply for British Passport for him/her in total of 6yrs in the UK.

I will urge you to read more news from Brussels and not from the UK politician as per the negotiation. There cat fight among themselves with end up in chaos. The word meaningless that you used is not something that EU will agreed with UK,but that is what the UK want and the reason was that, the UK want to have total control of people's lives after Brexit that's why they want to change it and it will be easy for them to do as they like regarding anyone under EU law. But the EU is saying everyone under the EU law will stay as they are even after Brexit.

However, if there was no deal, i think international treaty could bind them not to change much of it. I will be so surprise to see the EU allowing their citizen to go through this such mess with the UK.

So, just chill as normal.
It is really good to help and everyone deserve to be respected in life. Good luck.
