Previous sponsor claiming business losses

Post by rdanda » Fri Dec 08, 2017 4:44 pm

Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help but I'm going to ask anyway.

Here's the timeline:

1) Entered UK in 2011. Visa type Tier 2 ICT Est. Staff 2011 category. Started working for sponsor from day 1.
2) Switched sponsor early last month. Submitted resignation to previous sponsor around same time.
3) Worked nearly a month with previous sponsor and now working for new sponsor.

The contract from my previous company mentions that I should give a 6 month notice period should I resign. Previous sponsor has terminated my services and since I've haven't served 5 month notice period they are now pestering me (over the phone) to pay a very huge amount as business losses. I am unable to pay the amount. What other options do i have?

Raja.

This is not an immigration issue. You have not served the notice that your contract says and therefore broken the terms of your contract. You will need to get advice from an employment law specialist.
