Applied in august 2016 recieved seconed stage letter in december 2016.In june 2018 they asked to send copy of gnib and psc card to ceremonies team.i thought they ask for ceremonies team so might get soon but i was wrong nothing since
According to INIS, in May 2019 there were 763 applications still waiting from 2016 (out of 13,000). On this forum, I think there are only 3 people waiting longer than you. If I were you, I would do a FOI request to find out what is happening.
Hi. I got FOI on my application. It has been filled upto question 21 in which someone has signed and sent me second stage letter in the end of 2017 and no other question is filled. But there is another checklist(submission checklist prior to submission for Minister decision) which is all filled and signed in Oct 2018. I don’t understand when everything is done then why they are delaying. Any suggestions what to do please?
Same case here... I have my FOI file.. Everything completed by Jan 2017, since then they threw the file in Bin... So doinh everything is useless... Just wait and wait... I'm getting US visit visa and will claim asylum in Canada...

In both cases, have you tried writing to your local TD to ask for their help? If there is anything on your file you think might give them cause to delay it, make sure you tell the TD, and give an explanation.

The TD's office can talk to the Minister's office, or INIS on your behalf. There's no guarantee of success, but worth trying.

Alternatively, there are organisations like the Immigrant Council of Ireland (link) who might be able to offer some advice or assistance.

Yes I did. I am in contact with TD and with his help I actually got the positive reply from INIS since Oct 2018 of advance stage and so on and now he said(actually his secretary) that there is nothing we can do more.

There are hundreds of TDs. Try another one. You're more likely to get a response from a TD who is not a Minister, and preferably an opposition TD as they have more time and motivation.

I would also recommend using the Immigrant Council to help you with the request. Their services are free and they are experts.

And if you go back to December 2018, there were 768 waiting from 2016. So a reduction of 5 in ~5 months... at this rate it will take 60 years to clear!

PPl from Pakistan get citizenship but normally waiting more then 15 months. Have you find anyone get earlier than it
No. But I'm not sure anyone has facts on that by country of origin.
I am trying to answer this question based on posts to this forum where people have identified their 'home' country. This is a work in progress, but I'm posting anyway as it will get better over time as I get more data (chart will update automatically). The numbers in the labels are how many applications I have recorded for each country. I've only included countries with 4 or more data points. Still, it's not going to be very accurate at this stage.

There are a couple of observations about Pakistan. Firstly, there are a few people who have been waiting for a very long time, so the average waiting time appears much higher than any other country. Secondly, the average time to approval does appear longer than India and UK. I wouldn't yet compare it to the other countries without more data.

Not really. As there are only two users (yourself and Captainf) who I know are from Afghanistan it's not very meaningful data.

I think the department doesn't give citizenship easily to people from middle Eastern countries. I don't know anyone from those countries getting citizenship in less then a year. Same story with people who have refugee status. It takes more than 2 years, while on the other hand polish, Nigerian Indian, Chinese, Brazilian they don't wait that long. They get their citizenship within a year. While some of us are still here waiting for more than 3 years. They system is too slow while they handle our case.

To be honest it's no really obvious, you could be right regarding some sort of discrimination from one country to another but I would believe more into political and countries agreements and business between Ireland and the country you are from. Keep in mind, some of middle east and african countries are very slow and bad systems. Probably Ireland side is done and they sent your application to check your background but your country is bad and slow to provide such info.. YOU NEVER KNOW

The good part in Ireland is the Minister of justice will have to provide any rejected applicants why and reason behind it, which is fair enough to know and I would say they are careful with reasons as it cannot be relate it to beliefs, color skin or any sort of discrimination because you could bring them down in a court easy winning case with a good lawyer.

I know it's frustrating keeping us waiting and treating us like that but do not forget, Ireland is still improving their system in everything and just require a good managment to resolve a problem :D

I hope I and yourself to hear a good news soon but I somehow gave up waiting at least for this year because I have seen people with over a year after their 2nd stage and I have got my 2nd stage letter just back in June so I will start to worry April 2020 as I am giving myself a year from the 2nd stage letter.

It is good news as they are working on your file and most probably you will be included in the next ceremony whenever that happens.

Hello Guys,
I am back here after a long time. I already suggested you all that you must go to court but some people are too scared to go to court because it may make the department angry and they may get refusal.

I made a mistake to go to court after 2.5 years. I should have gone after 1 year as I did for my wife now. Immediately after one year she applied for JR. In the first hearing, department requested the court to give them some more time to make their submissions. The court gave them time and told them no time will be given anymore. Next hearing is coming up and department have to decide or make submissions as to why application decision is late.

One more thing, department cannot refuse application just because you went to court untill or unless you didn't disclose all the information they asked. If department refuses application for an obvious reason already disclosed in application, it will be considered malafide after such a long time. This type of refusal can further be challenged in court.

If you people want to wait indefinitely, it is your choice. The department wouldn't give a damn about it if you are patiently waiting for their convenience to work on your file.

If you are completely clueless about what to do. PM me and I will point you to the right direction.

By the way I got my approval through court. I even got my ceremony invitation through court within 5 days otherwise department was going to postpone my ceremony to the next one.

Wish you all good luck.
