Can you make a chart like this for people from Afghanistan
Not really. As there are only two users (yourself and Captainf) who I know are from Afghanistan it's not very meaningful data.
I think the department doesn't give citizenship easily to people from middle Eastern countries. I don't know anyone from those countries getting citizenship in less then a year. Same story with people who have refugee status. It takes more than 2 years, while on the other hand polish, Nigerian Indian, Chinese, Brazilian they don't wait that long. They get their citizenship within a year. While some of us are still here waiting for more than 3 years. They system is too slow while they handle our case.
To be honest it's no really obvious, you could be right regarding some sort of discrimination from one country to another but I would believe more into political and countries agreements and business between Ireland and the country you are from. Keep in mind, some of middle east and african countries are very slow and bad systems. Probably Ireland side is done and they sent your application to check your background but your country is bad and slow to provide such info.. YOU NEVER KNOW
The good part in Ireland is the Minister of justice will have to provide any rejected applicants why and reason behind it, which is fair enough to know and I would say they are careful with reasons as it cannot be relate it to beliefs, color skin or any sort of discrimination because you could bring them down in a court easy winning case with a good lawyer.
I know it's frustrating keeping us waiting and treating us like that but do not forget, Ireland is still improving their system in everything and just require a good managment to resolve a problem
I hope I and yourself to hear a good news soon but I somehow gave up waiting at least for this year because I have seen people with over a year after their 2nd stage and I have got my 2nd stage letter just back in June so I will start to worry April 2020 as I am giving myself a year from the 2nd stage letter.
