Return of Documents/ Getting back Passports and Documents from Home Office Storage

If you require in getting hold of the passports or supporting documents in urgency; the following may provide with some pointers >

Contact the Home Office : 0300 123 2241

Follow through the options and reach the appropriate adviser ; and explain them your situation;

however please note they may not provide information about a progress of an pending application and it must also be noted, some the advisers are helpful and some are not at all, so don't get frustrated if they do not help you; you can always try other means to contact the home office as below

it's best ( in my personal opinion ) to send them a letter (to the relevant home office where you sent the application to in the first place) on register post explaining and providing adequate information about yourself and the need of wanting the documents and you can ask them to either contact you or ask them to post it to you or you can ask to collect it from one of the home offices

you can also fax them a request on : 0114 2072536 ( works only on weekdays 9am - 4:30pm)


And you can also ask assistance from your local member of parliament, as their influence might push your request a bit forwards

Please only go for the options above once you have filled the online " RETURN OF DOCUMENTS " form and waiting for the appropriate period of days, so that will allow them to process your request.

AND kindly note, do not with draw your application, just request the documents only

you can use this service after you receive your bio metric and still waiting on your documents for a long time as well

Unfortunatly, It is mandatory now to withdraw your application if you need your travel documents (passport) back.

Hi everyone,

I have an urgent query for my friend if any can help would be much appreciated. He applied for his wife’s spouse visa as a British citizen from Pakistan however he received a card through hiss letterbox which he found out very late. Upon contacting courier the company said that document was sent back to sender.

Now he needs to travel to France for his work and he has no passport or no idea what to do as honeoffice has no clue either.
