Leaving the UK with a travel document, entering back with a new passport

Post by Bolor1231 » Sat Jan 13, 2018 3:04 pm

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if I'll have any issues at the UK border if I leave the country with a temporary travel document and return with a new passport?
I am a Mongolian national and have a UK spouse visa and biometric card. I urgently need to return to Mng for a month due to a family emergency. My Mongolian passport expired recently and it will take almost 2 months to get a new one if I order it from London. However, I can get a travel document that allows me to return to MNG. And I can apply for a new passport and get it by the time I return to the UK.
Just need to make sure if there will be any confusion due to that I had one type of document when I left the country and have another document when I re-enter. Although I will have my valid biometric separately from my passport or travel doc.
Thanks!
