Spouse Visa Documents- HELP!

Hi all.

In a weeks time we'll be submitting our application for the spouse visa. One of the docs requirement is to provide the applicants previous passport. My husband renewed his passport in 2016. His old passport was cancelled and returned to him by the issuing authority. However since then the previous passport has been misplaced. Now we do have a scanned copy of it. Would the submission of the copy satisfy the requirement. What should we do.
Please HELP!

When you submit form online it will ask you if you have old passport in your possession, just select no. You can then take photocopy with you to VFS centre and if they want to see copy then they can.

Does it need to be sent to sheffield as well with the application? If so should we mention it on the cover letter.
