OOPS... this means the same situation which was going through last 2 months will continue through Feb and March 2018. Really bad situation because of high recruitment going on for nurses ((SOC)).
Good luck guys... not sure what gonna happen in FEB.

This situations will continue for months if they don't change the rules. As lot of doctors refused, so health department is after HO to put more quota in shortage occupation list so those who are not in shortage list will have very less chance to make it.

If they are running programs of mass recruitment for nurses in India and Philippines then they really need to change the rules and not have these counted under the cap. If they need 40 000 not even the nurses are going to fit under the cap let alone anyone else. If the majory of the cap is taken up with just nurses it will just deflect more problems elsewhere. We were all hired for our roles because nobody in the UK was able or wanted to do them.

Can this topic please NOT descend into a general discussion about NHS shortages etc.

It will be locked if the topic does not stay on track for posting strictly about RCOS for February.

Thanks for that sptula, I did not see the date. Gives some hope that we might all get approved one day. Even if we need to wait a while for our turn.

Good luck to everyone and don’t give up hope! In a strange way is comforting knowing we are in this together.

Nope, did you receive? Whats your score? If yes, what documents UK HO asked you to provide?

Not yet. I think they send out emails a couple of days before the meeting if the quota is not oversubscribed.45, what is yours?

This is what I read online about the current situation;

In January 2018, demand for Restricted Certificates of Sponsorship (“RCoS”) again exceeded the number available in the monthly quota. With only 1,651 CoS available, a large number of RCoS applications from licenced sponsors were refused.
In order to be successful in January 2018, RCoS applications needed to score a minimum of 46 points, meaning RCoS requests for salaries below £50,000 per annum were rejected.
For February 2018, there have been 91 RCoS carried over from the January 2018 quota meaning 1,615 are available as a starting point. We hope there will be more than 1,615 available and that the minimum salary needed will be less than £50,000 per annum (the next salary band down is £45,000 – £49,999), but much will depend upon the number of applicants next month – which figures are never released by the Home Office.

1) As @Sptula mentioned - this is an old article dated November 2016.

2) 40,000 is the vacancy for nurses out of which 5,500 are to be recruited internationally on a “rolling” basis meaning 500 on average each month for example. Not all 40k will be recruited internationally.

Feb does have more quota than previous months and if the trend continues, points might drop to 40 or 35 at best. 40 points and above shouldn’t be worried.

I don’t think April is as promising as people make it sound. HO has been very strict on quota number for years so doubt there will be a drastic change this year.

Good luck.

I think people are saying April will be promising because it will take a couple of months for the current backlog to clear and if the score keeps gradually dropping April will be around the time you’d expect it to be getting back to normal...not that they’re thinking the rules are going to change or anything.

We really cannot accurately predict what the score will be this month.

It will all depend on how many applications are sitting at 45 points due to the backlog from December and January. There seemed to be many of these if we were to use this site as a sample to represent the overall applications. If there are hundreds and hundreds of these then even those with 40 may struggle, or if there’s less than we’re thinking or some certificates are returned the score may even drop to less than what everyone is predicting.

I don’t think anyone should give up hope yet. My prediction is around 35 but that’s just a complete guess as is everyone else’s predictions. We know every month’s submissions can be so variable.

Is it always the case that they’ll ask for additional documents?

I thought this was only the case if the employer didn’t include everything they needed to in the application or HO required further information because there was some conjecture.

Not sure, but i think they ask to submit the documents after initial application if your application scores above the cutoff limit.
I might be wrong.

That seems like a lot of work for HO. Some months they would have to request documents from 2500+ employers. Plus a lot of employers wouldn’t have a chance to get back to them if they were only asked for documents a couple of days earlier.

Before HR submitted my COS application they sent me a form to fill in personal details (the form also included information regarding the vacancy, salary, etc.) so I assume some documentation is provided to HO as part of the initial submission.

I suppose it is difficult for us to know how it works because even if our employers were asked for additional documents I doubt many of them would tell us, they’d just provide them.

My employer has submitted three times and has been asked for the documents three times - same letter each time. The first time they submitted, there was an issue with the application my employer detected (RLMT done wrong) and my employer cancelled the application. The second time they submitted, the application did not make the cut off for January points. This last time, my employer wrote to UKVI and confirmed that our application is valid (fingers crossed enough points now!) So, I think it's something they send out each time automatically.
