British Citizenship for child born abroad

Post by jdepiver » Fri Feb 09, 2018 7:26 pm

Hi there,

I hope someone could advise me on what to do.

I have a child born overseas in 2007. He is currently in France. I became a naturalised British citizen in April 2015. I want to know what and how do I apply for my son to be a British citizen.

Any answer regarding this would be highly appreciated.

Kind regards

Josh

What nationality if the child?

He cannot apply for British citizenship simply because you have now become British. You cannot pass it on automatically to children born before you got citizenship.

The child will require a settlement visa to live in the UK, if not an EU citizen.

Where is the child's other parent??
