Advice needed on overseas partner visa type and earning

Post by nemo999 » Thu Feb 15, 2018 6:35 am

Hello,

I am a British citizen, currently living in India, and I met my partner in India in April last year (2017).

We like each other very much and want to get married in UK and start a life in UK and live there.

We both have been married (and subsequently divorced later).

Since we want to get married in UK, what are the best visa types for my partner (who is Indian National) ?

We were told about fiancee visa and marriage visitor visa..but not sure which route to take.

If we choose the fiancee visa (which later converts to dependent visa from within UK) , do we need to show GBP 18,600 income while making the application for fiancee visa itself or the income needs to be shown after getting married and while applying for dependent visa?

Can someone please suggest?

Just to add few more point.

a) We are planning to get married within next 2-6 months inside UK.
b) We have been on holidays abroad 3 times
c) We had a small ceremony in presence of friends and family last year

Hi nemo999,
If you apply for marriage visitor visa, you will not be able to change the status of your partner within the UK, and your partner will have to come back to India for that

If you choose the fiancee visa route, you will have to show GBP 18600 income as well as other proves that you intend to get married in UK, you are in subsisting relations, you previous divorce certificates, and fulfill English language requirements. After your marriage in the UK you will be able to change the status of your partner within the UK.
