Spouse Visa Extension - Time of application / Late documents

Post by nmochan » Thu Feb 22, 2018 4:41 pm

Hi,

We're about to apply for the extension to my wife's visa, but our bank have been incredibly slow in providing some bank statements, first sending a transaction list instead of statements, then sending nothing at all despite them having stated on the phone over 3 weeks ago that they were being sent out.

The expiry of the current visa is Jan 27th and the application form is complete so we can submit immediately if needed.

My question relates to when you can send the documents in the post. Do they all have to be provided before the expiry date of the current visa for the application to be considered to have been submitted, or can the documents be sent to the Home Office after that date?

Or in other words is the application date considered to be when you've submitted and paid online, when you've sent the documents, or when the documents have been received by the Home Office?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Neil

The expiry of the current visa is Jan 27th
So the applicant is now an overstayer as visa has expired, yes??

Any reason why you cannot go into the bank branch and ask them to print statements?

Sorry my mistake - Feb 27th.

We have online statements for my account for the last 6 months, certified in bank, plus a transaction statement for the past year so I think they're ok.

For our joint account I've requested statements going back to the start date of the visa as (like most people these days I think) I only receive online statements, and these are for proof of co-habitation rather than financial. Unfortunately I wasn't aware of this need to keep letters to prove this until recently so although we have enough items they are not spaced throughout the 2.5 year period. They're concentrated at the early and recent periods.

If your bank stamped those statements that's fine.

To go back my main point. Is the time of application considered to be when online part is complete and payment received, when the supporting documents have been sent, or when the documents are recieved by the Home Office?

Thanks,
Neil

Date of application is when an online application is successfully be submitted.

Thank you. Application went in yesterday. I see we have 15 working days to get the documents in so hopefully the bank can deliver for a change.
