Certificate of travel- A bit confused with the application

Post by Travel-always » Sun Apr 01, 2018 9:48 pm

Hi guys,

A little help would be very much appreciated.

I am in a process of applying for a certificate of travel but I am a bit confused with the request to submit all original documents (status etc) that I have obtain from the HO over the years.

Little background, I claimed asylum about 10 years ago but was refused and granted discretionary leave to remain. After that expired, I applied to extend my stay but waited for almost 4 years for a decision (backlog/ legacy case) and I finally received ILR on a biometric card. Upton receiving all my documentation including my expired passport, I did not receive back my expired immigration status document. At the time I just thought that's what the home office did plus it was an expired document so no big deal.

So now I am trying to apply for travel document and I've just noticed that I do not have the original of my expired status document.

Would a photocopy would accepted? I will of course send my expired passport and Biometric card as original.

Also the reason I must apply for a travel document is because my passport can no longer be issued at the embassy, I must be present in my home country to get a passport. I truly can not go back home due to things (politically) being extremely unpredictable. Could this be an acceptable reason?

Thank you all!
