Hi all, I am a Settled Refugee, I have recently got the ILR, and now exploring whether to apply for Travel Document first or Naturalization first. (I fall under the 3 year qualifying period category)
I need to travel soon, as it's needed for my job, so applying for a Travel Document makes more sense to me, but I worry that my Travel Document application will not be processed early enough to be able to apply for Citizenahip. The only window I can apply for Citizenship is between mid June and end July this year, or after end December 2019 (due to my travels and conditions related to the Date of Application condition - I was only phisically in UK between mid June and end July 2015 and past 10 Dec 2016, so my BC application will rely on discretion ) .
Can you please help me with:
- how long does it usually take to process the application for a Travel Document? (And is it possible to speed this process if travelling is a requirement of my current employer?)
- Does anyone know whether you can apply for Citizenship while your Travel Document application is still in process? (Will I need same original documents for the Citizenship application that I will also need for the Travel Document? Is it possible to get these documents back if I requested thar in the Travel Document application?)
- anything else you think I should know?
(Would be great if you can add references to your advice!)
Thanks
