Hey guys. Me and my fiancée have a bit of a predicament and we don't know who else to turn to but having scoured the internet for other couples who've been in our situation; we've been unable to find anyone who's currently going through what we are going through. Basically our situation is that we've been successful with our visa application, which was a marriage visa, and were hoping to get married within six months of the visa, applying for the next visa in order for her to stay in the country. However, we hit a roadblock in terms of waiting for a Certificate of No Impediment from the UK (as I live in Scotland). We are also currently waiting on a Certificate of No Impediment from Kenya, which may take up to 8 weeks, so while we wait patiently for that to arrive, we are having trouble with my own Certificate of No Impediment because we need a proof of address from her and we cannot use my current address.
Apparently, she has to provide her Kenyan address to prove that she's going to go back and that my UK address isn't valid as it's only a temporary visa according to the registry office. The issues that we have is that while she has the tenancy agreement, it doesn't contain the address of the property itself. While there is a receipt that is along with the property, showing that she has been paying for utilities alongside her rent, receipts are not accepted and utility bills are usually paid for alongside the rent in Kenyan properties. Another issue is that her correspondence goes to her PO boxes at work, not to her home address, which means that even if she had a bill from a mobile company for instance, it still wouldn't be accepted because her PO box is different from her home address.
We'd like to know if anyone else has seen similar cases of this and what our best course of action would be. We are currently discussing going abroad to Kenya to get married but we don't know if that would adversely affect any future Visa applications since we wanted to get married in the UK but were unable to.
Thank you for your time and I hope I posted in the right forum.
