Tier 2 Minimum salary

Post by nasmc92 » Fri May 11, 2018 1:11 am

Hello Guru's

Please can someone advise me. I myself hold a Tier 2 visa but when i started the rules were different in regards to salary for new entrants

My company has recently advertised a job for web developer and I want to call one of my friend outside UK.

SOC 2137 Web design and development professionals is the best code suit to the job. What i am confuse that as of April 2017 the minimum salary has increased to 30K but I just want clear that this is for experienced worker only not for new entrant

I am confuse with £30,000 or the appropriate rate for the job, whichever is the higher

In this case 2137 has following
new entrant 17,900
experienced 24,000

But Tier 2 Guideline also states that minimum salary will now be 20,800

Please can some one just clear my confusion that if my company needs to sponsor a new entrant for SOC 2137

What salary would they need to offer
17,900 ?
20,800 ?
30,000 ?

Many Thanks

30000, unless the job is in shortage and exempted

he is under 25
and what confuse us more that every document state that minimum salary would be £20,800
the 30K only apply if it is experienced job and appropriate salary for SOC is lower

Also I do have another colleague who needs to join but he is 38 years
Assuming if he is 38 years , and if my company needs to sponsor then it would be experienced rate 30K because of his age...regardless the SOC 2137 states £24k for experienced worker

Under 26 is new entrant, so £20,800 is what is required. The £20,800pa is the minimum for new entrants which came into effect in April last year.

See also page 4 in the link below.

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... l_2015.pdf
The lower pay threshold for new entrant employees is set at the 10th percentile of the pay distribution for
full-time employees in that occupation. The new entrant thresholds apply to:
 Graduates switching into Tier 2 (General) within the UK from the student route or Tier 1 (PostStudy
Work);
 Graduate recruits where you have used a university “milkround” to satisfy the Resident Labour
Market Test;
5
 Graduates sponsored in the Intra-Company Transfer Graduate Trainee route; and
 Workers making a Tier 2 application who are aged 25 or under on the date they apply
For the 38 year old 'friend', minimum £30,000pa or the level in the SOC, whichever is HIGHER.
