Standard Visitor Visa for Family

Post by shurti » Sun May 13, 2018 8:41 pm

I am a British Citizen, I would like my parents to visit me in the UK for 3 weeks to see our new child. They are retired, they do not have a job but they have a savings of £11k. They have no salary or any document to prove monthly/yearly income. If granted visa, they will stay in a nearby hotel.
I would appreciate if you could confirm,

1. What are the documents required? As it is not point based not sure what they need.
2. Is £11k saving going to be enough to satisfy the case worker?
2. Is it a good idea for them to apply now in the current hostile environment?
3. If the visa is refused, is there an appeal?

They need to show that they can meet certain costs. See https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa/eligibility

The "hostile environment" is about making life in the UK difficult for illegal migrants, not about preventing genuine visitors from visiting the UK.

The full list of documents link says passport and bank statement (for visiting family). Just two documents? Too good to be true. Sounds to me a Home Office ploy to snatch fees and refuse visas

No comment on this. Everyone knows its not just the illegal migrants they are after. They set a target and they are desperate to achieve it

See https://www.gov.uk/immigration-asylum-tribunal
Is this link only about asylum applications? It does not have a section to submit an appeal for any other category. Could you please check?

Anyone else, please if you have recently applied for a Visit Visa for your Parents kindly share the list of documents you provided.

There are no appeal rights for a refused visitor visa.

So the Home Office is publishing deliberately false and incomplete guidance to trick people like your parents into messing up their visa application? Please.
