ILR financial requirement & paying mortgage

Post by wasimkhan » Wed May 16, 2018 12:51 pm

Hi,

My wife is due to apply for ILR at the end of next year.
I earn well above the minimum salary requirement of £18,600.

However, we are considering buying a house with a mortgage.
We will NOT be living in that house, we will continue living in my parents house.

That house will either go on rent or remain vacant for a few years.

My question is, if that house remains vacant, and I'm making mortgage payments for it every month which amount to most of my monthly salary, effectively reducing my annual income, then does this have any affect on my wife's ILR application?

Does the HO look at gross salary only or will they subtract any big mortgage payments like this and then calculate your annual salary from that (reduced) total?

Thanks

HO is only interested in your income, not your spending.
