Applied for citizenship+passport via JCAP for child- tracking and processing?

Post by Cocoaliz » Tue May 29, 2018 1:08 pm

Hello,

We recently made an application using the JCAP services for our child-

As per their instructions, we submitted the MN1 form online and paid online on the 25th April 2018. We received an automated email on the 26th April from the home office along with a case id saying that the application has been received.
On the 27th April, we had our original documents photocopied and couriered to the Home office by the NDRS service. We didn't take biometrics of the child (is this correct?)

So far, I haven't heard back from them.

One of the official websites say that they will write back to us within 4 weeks and will take 6 months to process the application: https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/births-deaths-a ... y-checking

How can I track my application and confirm that they have received the documents we sent using the NDRS service? The NDRS folks provided us with a PNN number and a JCAP barcode after document copies submission. What are they and how can I use them to track the application status?

Is there a website to track the application?

I tried calling the 0300 numbers listed on the website, but their correspondents say that they have no way to provide information from the Home office database.

I have read some topics on your website, where people have received response from ukba within 2 days of posting the application, fees debited within 2 weeks, approval in another 2 weeks and so on.. but nothing has progressed for us so far.

Appreciate your guidance!

You need to give biometrics even for a child. This is done at the post office, not the NDRS appointment. And it should have been done within 10 days of submitting the application. Not sure what you should do now, as it's been more than 10 days since you submitted.

That website is about Nationality Checking Service (NCS), not Nationality Document Return Service (NDRS)

There is nothing to track the application. Did the NDRS people give you a tracking number for the postal delivery?

Your fees will have been debited when you made the online application, and your biometric letter was also issued then, and you probably received email confirmation. It's different for people using the paper form, who get acknowledgement letter/biometrics letter/fees debited.

The first thing that should happen with your application is that the passport fees get debited. It took over a month for us though.

So yeah, it's normal that you haven't heard anything yet. But do look into the biometrics situation as soon as possible.

Would we receive a letter for biometric enrollment while using JCAP services?

When you submitted the online application, the biometrics letter was one of the documents you could have / should have downloaded. You don't get it from JCAP/NDRS.

If you log back into your application, it should hopefully still be there for you to print out.

Yes, and you will notice that those who submitted their application online, they "received" their biometrics letter the same day they submitted the application. Because it wasn't by mail, it is displayed at the end of the online application.

We submitted the biometrics on the 29th May and we received an email from the home office team saying that the case is now in the queue waiting to be processed. Luckily the application still seems to be valid. Now, its just waiting for the outcome, I guess.
