I was married abroad (outside the EU) to a lady. We are legally married in the other country but I live most of the time in the UK while she lives most of the time in her home country. My wife is worried that if she applies for a visitor visa to come here to visit, the UK immigration will not recognise our marriage certificate as valid and stop her.
I do know that the internet advice is that so long as the mariage was legal in the other country, it would normally be considered as valid by UK immigration. But she has heard of a few other ladies who have had problems with this, for a reason or other I do not understand. So she is nervous.
So she wants to see something more "official" than information from the internet on this topic. I suppose I can try talking to UK Visas and Immigration at

Are there any other ways to get a "definitive" answer on this, one that she can accept?
