"Exceptionally complex issues" with visa extension

Post by NeyHa » Fri Jul 06, 2018 1:06 pm

Hi all,

I'm currently on Tier 2 visa sponsored by my employer, and have applied for an extension of visa about 6 weeks ago. Now I got a letter saying it will take them more than standard 8 weeks to process it because of "exceptionally complex issues".

Initially, when paying for the visa cost, I've paid in the wrong amount, so they contacted me because of the underpayment - I've sent them payment details on the same day so they can take the full amount. After that there was just confirmation mail that they got the payment details and nothing else until this letter.

I know that letter I received is basically a template they use if it's going to take them more than 8 weeks for processing, but was anybody else in situation of paying the wrong fee initially? Did it introduce the delay with processing, or cause any other issues?

Thanks,
Nejra

Do you think you have any issue yourself about your employment under Tier 2? underpayment is not an issue delaying your application and you also corrected by paying the difference.

As far as I know there shouldn’t be any issues with sponsorship: my employers extended the sponsorship certificate, and my employment contract is for indefinite period of time, reliant on having visa of course. I thought it was to be a straightforward case of extending the visa...
Do they treat it as a brand new application when evaluating the visa extension application?

Hi all, just got my BRP, and thought I follow up in case somebody is in similar situation: I got no followup as to the cause of the delay on processing of my visa- I suspect it was the initial underpayment that threw my application out of the usual pipeline. I wasn’t getting response from my case worker when I contacted them directly via email. With about a week delay, in comparison to maximum 8 weeks they advertise on theor website and standard time, I got letter confirming visa was extended and BRP in same day.

Hi Neha,

I applied Tier 2 extension , after 7 th week I got a letter that they need further time to check thoroughly to decide my application.

Now it’s 10 th week still no response .

I am very upset and worried.

Currently working for NHS as a Physio and also moving to NHS .
