Switch from Tier 2 ICT to Tier 4 Student

Post by aloksingh » Thu Aug 09, 2018 3:38 pm

Hi,

I am currently working in UK on Tier 2 ICT long term visa, which is valid until 2020. However, I plan to study full time in UK from Sep 2019 onwards. I have the following queries:

1. Can I apply for a Tier 4 student visa without a 12 month cooling off period? If yes, what is the high level procedure? Will I have to go back to my home country India to cancel the current visa and apply for new one?

2. Can I apply for Tier 2 General visa immediately after my degree is complete, considering I did not serve a 12 month cooling off after my Tier 2 ICT got cancelled?

Regards,
Alok

1. See switch to Tier 4 General (click to read). Cooling off ONLY applies to ICT to Tier 2 General!!!

2. You must have held another visa category other than Tier 2 for at least 12 months before you can switch to Tier 2 General.

Thanks for your prompt response. Really appreciate! I am assuming that there is no problem/cooling off as such in switching from Tier 2 ICT to Tier 4 student visa and subsequently from Tier 4 to Tier 2 General visa. Is that correct?

Also, does anyone know how long one can stay on student visa (to find a job) after the degree is complete?

As long as you spend at least 13 mo this in a student visa then no issues

For as long as the visa is valid and if not cancelled or curtailed for any reason.
