Spouse visa financial requirement

Post by mooglemooglemoogle » Tue Jul 24, 2018 10:48 pm

Hi there, I applied back in march and received a refusal for spouse visa last week :( I read the refusal letter, everything was fine apart from the financial information. I've sent them the last six months of my payslips and corresponding bank statements and even they acknowledged them. They said that my payslip doesn't match my bank statements.

I have to explain that I have a current account and a savings account. Every month, I receive payslip and a cheque with the corresponding amount and put it into my savings account. I transfer a small portion of my wages into my current account and then transfer to my wife every month and that's why I sent them six months statement for both current and savings account. I didn't know that I can send payments to my wife via saving account too which I've started doing.

I want to ask, does it matter if I put the money into my savings account every month and not the current account? I don't see a problem since I have every month for the past year but can't understand how they would miss it. Maybe I should have written a cover letter but I didn't. Thank you for your time.

£62,500 cash savings for spouse visa

Post by mooglemooglemoogle » Fri Aug 10, 2018 12:30 pm

Hi there, my spouse visa got refused due to strict financial requirement and I work for my family business as an employee. I'm gonna restart the application in 6 months time. My sister and parent has sent me £48,000 and £9,000 as a gift respectively into my bank account. I have about £6,000 from my wages via payslips. So in total, I have about £63,000. I plan to leave it in my bank for 6 months with my monthly wages going in too so it won't go below the £62,500 requirement. I want to ask is it fine that I count my salary of £6,000 in addition to the gift from my family? thank you.

Gifts are acceptable, however, you need some form of written evidence from your sister and parents stating that it is actually a gift to you and does not leave them in dire condition as a result, and that their funds are from a legal source. You should read the cash saving notes on the guidance document.

Also you can have your funds in an ISA account or current account that is regulated by an offical authority like FSA, they have to be in the form of freely available cash in your account. In addition the balance at the date of application should not have dropped below £62,500 in the past 6 months prior to the application date.

Thanks for your reply, I will have formal evidence stating that it's a gift and not a loan. I currently have it in my current account along with my wages that go in. Because I work for my family, do you know if I can combine my wages to make up for it? If not, I don't have enough, thanks
