And another 2 with the passport (British) application

So do I need 6 photos in total or am I reading this wrong?


And also for the part in the passport if the parents details are Unknown even if they are born abroad what can be done? (Parents not British and don’t live in Britain)

And also the part about naturalization : as we still haven’t received the certificate, do you tick “no “ in the box of the passport application?

1. Some get some don't. HO don't communicate with you every step of the process so don't expect any handholding. They will communicate with you if they require something otherwise only once a decision is made.

2. You get your certificate at the ceremony. It is not posted to you.

3. You get the passport a couple of weeks after the ceremony. Some have to sign for it other get it through the post box.

Sending an acknowledgment as a “set standard/procedure” doesn’t do harm (just thinking out loud about this)

Approval comes from HO. Some get the ceremony letter first (few), but mostly you get HO's letter first.

If you apply online, I understand you get an email once you have submitted.

Just one quick question though, does the HO debit the fees for the B.P. once the application is approved and before sending acknowledgement or do they debit the B.P.P fees once a person attends the citizenship ceremony?

HMPO debits the passport fee. This is debited regardless of whether your application is approved or refused if you have applied using JCAP.

Yes that is correct, online submission using NDRS.

I am aware the HO fees gets deducted immediately when the application is submitted online; what I am needing to find out is; does the HMPO fees gets debitted only when the application is approved or person attends the ceremony or does it get debited regardless?

This one. There have been refusals even if the passport fee has been debited.

It is only NDRS that offers JCAP so not sure what you mean the above.

Could you provide some knowledge on the/about the “Oath or the Affirmation of allegiance” please?

What is the difference between the two?

Which applies to whom?

Any expertise or further clarifications regarding these?

Allegiance = The Queen & the UK

Oath = in the name of god
Affirmation = Conscious declaration but not religious

You can either swear in the name of god or ‘solemnly affirm and declare’. The purpose is the same, to show your allegiance towards the Queen and the laws of the United Kingdom.

As far as I’m aware you get to choose one at the time of citizenship ceremony. I don’t think you are expected to do both!

Attending ceremony only means you will get your naturalisation certificate and officially become a British citizen.

Passport needs to be separately applied which allows you to choose (during your application) what delivery method you would like to receive your documents. Passport itself is delivered via DX, Yes!

One more thing, the above advise applies if you applied for BN online or using paper, if you have used JCAP - Joint Citizenship & Passport Application, then passport will be processed as part of your original application once after you attend your citizenship ceremony, timescales vary.

Yes if applied online via JCAP was used then upon attending the ceremony for citizenship, does the individual automatically receive the passport via post through DX Couriers?

Or does the individual need to do anything further please?

iI understand the time scales may vary but on a brief level, approximately how long does it take to be sent through couriers please?
