Passport needs to be separately applied which allows you to choose (during your application) what delivery method you would like to receive your documents. Passport itself is delivered via DX, Yes!

One more thing, the above advise applies if you applied for BN online or using paper, if you have used JCAP - Joint Citizenship & Passport Application, then passport will be processed as part of your original application once after you attend your citizenship ceremony, timescales vary.
Thank you for the reply.
Yes if applied online via JCAP was used then upon attending the ceremony for citizenship, does the individual automatically receive the passport via post through DX Couriers?

Or does the individual need to do anything further please?

iI understand the time scales may vary but on a brief level, approximately how long does it take to be sent through couriers please?
Your local council will inform HO that you have attended your ceremony who will then send this info over to HMPO and they will despatch the passport. This can take anything from couple of days to few weeks!

After attending the ceremony, is the candidate given a reference about the passport if they applied through JCAP?
I mean to track delivery etc or a letter of some sort?

Or attend the ceremony, take the certificate and await to hear from courier company itself?

Any insight on this please?

Passport will be delivered some time after the ceremony. The council won't have details of tracking references, etc.
Wait for passport to arrive, probably two weeks or more, judging by discussions here.

Thank you for the reply.

What if there are more delays or severe delays, what if the passport doesn’t come through for something, does the person contact the HO or what’s the reference here?

Once an individual receives their citizenship and becomes British, do they need to notify their own country’s consulate or embassy about change of citizenship?

Does the person need to notify HMRC and banks and any other official places?

Any other info would be most grateful

depends on your home countries requirements, do they allow dual nationality? I won't notify my embassy until renwal of passport where I need to state other nationality.

banks definitely, employer, update electoral roll, HMRC not required.

Any other info would be most grateful

Thank you for the kind information.

I was looking across the “right of abode” matter, and googled it to find more depth clarity.

And I’m still having some uncleared thoughts about this.

What does this right of abode mean really in simple English?

Does it give the bearer right to travel with their own country’s passport without obtaining a British passport and yet be a citizen of their native country while residing in the UK?

If so, isn’t it the similar as ILR?

Furthermore, can a person who has a British Passport get a right of abode or do they have to get it before getting a British passport?

What are advantages and disadvantages about this?

Which government departments can I speak to get more information about this etc?

Thank you for your kind information

Only a British citizen can hold right if abode on a foreign passport.

You cannot hold right of abode AND a british passport simultaneously.

Note that if your country does not allow dual citizenship, this might not help you anyway as you are British from the date you attend your ceremony. A British passport is only a travel document.
