I'd assume DOB, EU passport number and child's age?kcka wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 11:18 amPlease I need help/advice on what to write? Child was born in the state and has EU passport since birth.
Form 9 Naturalized adult on behalf of minor.
Questions: SECTION 4 (RESIDENCY DETAILS) MINOR
4:1 = Date of arrival in Ireland ?
4:2 = Passport number ?
4:3 = Number of years resident in state ?
Thank you very much for your advice, It's just confusing as child never arrived in Ireland but was born in Ireland? We did not have 3 out of 4 years back then.meself2 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 12:13 pmI'd assume DOB, EU passport number and child's age?kcka wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 11:18 amPlease I need help/advice on what to write? You can also go for a passport if you (as a EU citizen) lived in Ireland for 3 out of 4 years before child's birth, just in case you're applicable.
If you wish, throw in a cover letter to explain it. The form is aimed to cater for most circumstances and it's used way more often in cases where child was born outside on the State compared to your situation.kcka wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 2:26 pmThank you very much for your advice, It's just confusing as child never arrived in Ireland but was born in Ireland? I think you should check if Form 9 is for you, I think it might be Form 11 instead. I am not 100% sure, better to double checkkcka wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 11:18 amPlease I need help/advice on what to write? Child was born in the state and has EU passport since birth.

Absolutely, Thanks. Like I mentioned as a naturalized citizen I can use either forms but I choose form 9 as I meet the criteria.MarijanaVol wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 8:06 pmForm 11 is also for minor.kcka wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 3:54 pmThanks for your input, I am already naturalized and only applying on behalf of my minor child on form 9.MarijanaVol wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:31 amI think you should check if Form 9 is for you, I think it might be Form 11 instead. This is crazy, how can a child be stateless ? Currenly your child is indian citizen on it's own, not because he's your child, so his nationality has no link with yours . I suggest to visit Indian Embassy physically & check & explain.vl9codw1eo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 11:28 amHey guys, i am in a weird situation where me and my wife both got Irish passport recently and we applied for Kid's afterwards. It turns out Kid's existing Indian passport is due to expire this month end and when i applied to Embassy for a renewal they sent the application back stating it can't be done as none of the parents are Indian anymore.
It turns out Kid will be without a valid passport if situation remains the same and looking at posts a kid's application can take long time too.
Anyone have encountered similar situation or have any suggestions what our options are now?
Thanks in advance.
If you still have Indian citizenship I presume child can get passport under some special circumstances (child has no other passport). If you are not Indian citizens anymore, I’d say this is the case for Irish citizenship. Maybe you can send them a letter explaining your problem, they might take your child case as urgentvl9codw1eo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 11:28 amHey guys, i am in a weird situation where me and my wife both got Irish passport recently and we applied for Kid's afterwards. Since the child had an Indian passport, I assume the declaration was submitted and child was registered? Then use it to state child isn't naturalized, so no other nationality for him is possible.A person born outside India on or after 3rd Decmber, 2004 shall not be a citizen of India, unless the parents declare that the minor does not hold passport of another country and his birth is registered at an Indian consulate within one year of the date of birth or with the permission of the Central Government, after the expiry of the said period.
Indians cannot hold dual citizenship.MarijanaVol wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 6:12 pmIf you still have Indian citizenship I presume child can get passport under some special circumstances (child has no other passport). I am sure child still has Indian citizenship, the only problem is that parents have to apply for his passport on behalf of their child. Since parents have no Indian citizenship anymore, they can’t apply. Child would be able to get passport if he is over 18, but under 18 parents apply for it.meself2 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:18 amIndians cannot hold dual citizenship.MarijanaVol wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 6:12 pmIf you still have Indian citizenship I presume child can get passport under some special circumstances (child has no other passport). As child had an Indian passport, they should have been registered with consulate to get it. Citizenship doesn't usually disappear just because of the parents' status.
That is exactly what the situation is. I sent them en email after my post here last week and no response yet. Sent them a follow up again today. They must have some kind of alternative here as kid will be stateless otherwise which doesn't make any sense as he is by birth an India citizen unless renounced, which he clearly hasn't.MarijanaVol wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 5:17 pmI am sure child still has Indian citizenship, the only problem is that parents have to apply for his passport on behalf of their child.
