Hello all, has anyone received a letter saying that child’s application is being submitted to the Minister?? It is signed by a person (name visible rather than the name of the office). How long does it take after this step, does anyone know??? Thank you all
There's never a defined timeline really, each application is individual.
Theoretically, it's the last step, but you never know.

Is the typical time for naturalization for children same as that of adults? I would hope and expect it to be shorter. Is it the case?

Thanks

The citizenship office will quote the same average (19 mos) as they don't differentiate in their processing timeline statistics. TDs have asked for this information before through the parliamentary question process and I have personally requested it in letters to the department, but Citizenship has declined to break it out.

However, I've seen 3 recent reports here and elsewhere indicating a Form 9 processing time of ~10-11 months.

For me, one child's Form 11 took 16.5 months (Jul '21 - Dec '22) while my adult application took less time at 15 months (Feb '21 - May '22). My other child's Form 9 is pending, currently sitting at 9 months (Jun '22).

So, I'd say:
  • Nobody really knows on a broad statistical level (except Citizenship, and they aren't sharing)
  • Anecdotally, it seems like Form 11 child applications aren't any faster than adult applications
  • Also anecdotally, Form 9 applications might be faster than adult applications
Good luck :-)

I'm also hoping chad returns to answer this question (as well as what form his child was applying under) to get another data point since child application data points are so scarce. However, given his posting history I would wager the child application is no more than 15 months old. He has a post about a passport application submitted in Jan '22, so I assume he received his own citizenship in the Dec '21 ceremony and applied for his child some time after that.

Children naturalization application - Person ID Number

Post by JAPAC » Tue May 16, 2023 4:34 pm

Hi my friends,
Maybe this been asked before. I just preparing the stage in our family immigration/citizenship journey.
It looks like my wife might make the June ceremony and next will be her child for naturalisation of a minor child.
On form 9 :
Section
2.9 Person identity number ( This is specified on all correspondence issued by Immigration
Service Delivery since October 2011)

Our child doesn’t have one do we leave blank, put in my wife’s number or contact the department?

Any guidance would be gratefully appreciated

If your child never received correspondence from ISD, they don't have a person ID, so you should be fine to leave it blank.

Has anyone got approval letters for the minors recently? If so, can you share the application timelines?

Wow, that’s fast processing. Gives hope they’ve finally got some effective processing lines running across naturalisation types.

Hi White_Pearl,
1 basic question to you. is it possible to apply naturalisation for children when the adult application is in progress? i ask this question based on your individual status. hence asked. it will help others like me to apply for my kids when my application is still in progress

If you child was here 5 years - use Form 11 even now - it is more complicated.
If less than 5 - wait until you have certificate and then apply for form 9

If they born here when you had already 3 years - they naturalized by born
