FLR(M) Application Form Questions

Post by Sarah86 » Sat Aug 25, 2018 12:29 am

Hello all,

I have questions regarding the FLR(M) online application form and I would really appreciate your help.

Background:
I (the sponsor) am a self-employed British citizen. My husband will be applying to switch from Tier 2 (General) to FLR(M). We will be using his salary to meet the financial requirements.

How should the following questions on the FLR(M) form be answered?

Have you been out of the UK since you started living here?
Does this include all absences regardless of how short they are?

What family or friends do you have in the country where you were born and/or any other country whose nationality you hold?
How much detail should we include here? My husband only spent the first 8 years of his life in the country where he was born. He has some family there but no friends. He doesn't have any other nationalities. He lived in the UK longer than he lived anywhere else as he moved around a lot during his teenage years... should all this be explained?

If you were required to leave the UK, what country would you go to?
He would have to go back to the country where he was born. However, he has no cultural or social or religious ties to that country, should we explain this somewhere?

When did you enter the UK?
He has been living in the UK continuously for over 8 years. Does this question refer to the date this period began? Or does it refer to the date his last grant of leave was issued?

The online form requires us to provide items of correspondence covering the last two years.
Is this question meant for the unmarried partners? We started living together before we got married, but it's been less than two years. Should we just provide items of correspondence since we started living together?

Enter details for any periods of time you have not lived with your partner including where you were living, for how long and the reasons you lived apart.
This question is confusing... we were living apart when we first started dating, but haven't been apart since we moved in together. We were actually living in different cities in the UK when we first met. We have many photos together from that period... Should we explain all this?

Please explain why you and your partner cannot live together outside the UK
How much detail is required here? There are a few reasons, one of them is that his hometown is not a safe place to live, I am too scared to even visit. Also, he is agnostic and doesn't believe in organised religion, which would put his life in danger in his country of birth. I am an athiest myself and would not be able to live there with him. Another reason is the fact that my family are all here in the UK and I would like them to be involved in raising our (future) kids...

Evidence of monthly housing costs for the accommodation in the UK where you live or will live.
What evidence is required here? Should we provide bank statements showing we jointly pay the rent and bills every month?

One last question, my husband is employed on a permanent contract, but is it correct to use the word 'permanent' when he is here on a temporary Tier 2 (General) visa?

Thank you very much in advance. Your help is much appreciated.
