Hi Guys,

I have submitted the spouse visa application and sent documents to Sheffield. And paid £573 for priority service.
But I am still confuse when this service kicks in. On my online application form it said application type as "standard".

Priority Service

Post by adkh2_1 » Mon Sep 03, 2018 9:45 pm

Hi Guys,

I applied for my wife's spouse visa a month ago using priority service. I am still confused how it works.
Basically I filled online application form and paid for application fee and Health surcharge. Then I payed separately on VFS website for priority service using GWF number created on my online application form.

But I noticed on my online application form, it was stated application type as 'Standard'. So at what point priority service kicks in ?

I hope I didn't pay £573 extra for nothing ?

Did you write "Priority" on top of your bundle and provided them with receipt of payment?

They specifically ask you to mark the bundle with "Priority" otherwise how would they know its a priority application.

Maybe send them an email with proof of payment for priority and explain the situation to them.

Come to think of it makes sense putting on the bundle, I was confused on VFS website they asked me to enter the GWF number, So I thought they might have a automatic way of linking up the GWF numbers to pool with Priority application to the ones with standard applications.

Its only after a month of application and no response from HO i am starting to wonder wether they actually treating my application under priority application.

The fact that you pay extra to a third party for priority is a hint that the two systems arent linked.

What would be your grounds for a refund?

They will possibly reply with "follow the instructions that we have specifically set out for sending in priority applications in our guidance"

Your best bet is sending them a email with proof so that they treat it as priority starting now.

I am in process of sending them email, but their email services doesn't have attachment section, so I will just put the details of payment references in the email.

On follow the instruction bit, they sadly didn't send any instructions, all they said 'Please print this as evidence and take it Visa processing centre', Which my wife did and presented at the Biometrics centre.

I have emailed HO, and they said they need to escalate my case ? And ask me to provide with a reason ?

You paid for a service which you didn't use (albeit due to no fault of theirs) and now you want that service to kick in.

Hi Guys,

Today HO called the reception, basically where I work there are group of companies with shared reception, so they then emailed the receptionist saying they need job verification from my employer.

So shall I just tell my employer to email them back ?

My company's MD has replied back.

He is off for next couple of weeks, but he replied with official company email and provided his personal contact mobile number in the email saying should you need more information please ring.

Only problem, it was a lady who called the receptionist, but email was from a Lady at HO, my MD mistakenly put "Dear Sir" in his reply, I hope they won't get offended ?

Not offended enough to reject you. Dont worry - people make mistake. If anything she will think your boss is a idiot. Whats more important is the information about that they provided to UKVI.

Also in legal terms "Dear Sirs" was always used regardless of gender. Now people prefer not to use that term.

Hi Guys,

Just to update, today my employer and I received the calls almost same time. Nothing difficult very simple questions, where I work and who I report to, and wether I am related to the employer, which I am not.

Only thing is I had to repeat my marriage dates few times, I was saying something else they were repeating something else. In the end I humbly request them to repeat the dates, so I didn't want to get them wrong.

Finally they said they will pass my details to decision making team, which might contact me with email.

I was under the impression its the actual case work which makes the call ? But it suggest there different teams working on the application ?

There are many case workers who gather information and they recommend whether documents meet the requirements. THEN it all goes to an ECO who either agrees or disagrees with the recommendation i.e. makes the decision. ECO usually spends about 15 mins on a application.

Hi Guys,

I am double minded on something, as I mentioned last week, I paid for priority service but forgot to mention on the application that I actually paid for priority service.

Hence I emailed the HO paying £5.48 for the email service, i got reply back saying we need GWF and other information to escalate your case. Before I could reply few things happened, got an email from HO saying application received and being prepared for a case worker, then my Employer and I got calls today.

So question is should I reply to the email of escalation ? or wait for couple of weeks ?
