Does marriage have to take place in Registry Office?

Post by Thelugi » Fri Sep 07, 2018 12:57 pm

Hi guys!

While my fiancé's visa (Settlement - Marriage) is under processing, I am starting to research and plan our wedding from here (UK). There is something that is not yet clear to me and wondered if someone knows the answer:

Do we have to marry in a Home Office approved Registry Office? Or could we book a registrar to attend a licensed venue from the council's approved list for our wedding?
We would prefer to have the marriage ceremony done in the same location as the celebration venue in order to avoid having to arrange for transport between a registry office and the celebration venue.

Many thanks for any advice!
