TRAVEL BACK TO HOME COUNTRY WITHOUT STUDENT BRP

Hello all,
Asking for a relation who has found out their BRP is missing and needs to travel back home tomorrow to the home country. He's done with his studies anyway and is going back home. Will the airline let him leave since he is going back to his home country. He has a passport

Free to leave. BRP is required to enter the UK if he wanted to return.

He should still report it as lost though so that it can be cancelled.
