Change of Employment complications

Post by vx7 » Thu Oct 04, 2018 1:43 pm

Hello all,

I am in a bit of a complicated situation. Any guidance from you guys would be very helpful.

I worked here on a Tier 2 General Migrant visa. I resigned my job a couple weeks ago as I have received an offer from a new company. I have resigned before I could get my new visa since I had to serve a notice period. But my previously employer was not happy that I was leaving and cancelled my sponsorship immediately. My new employer has applied for a COS but will only be allocated by the end of next week. Meanwhile I am here with no Visa and no job. I have the following questions

1. How long do I have before which I have to sort out my next visa (my previous sponsorship has been cancelled) ?
2. I am looking out for another opportunity just in case I need a back up. Suppose if I am successfull at getting the second offer too, will it be an issue that both of my prospective employers will be applying for a COS at the same time ?
3. Suppose my next employer offers me the COS and a week later I receive another offer and prefer the latter. How should I handle this situation?

Thanks in advance.

If you have not received a curtailment letter from. HO, then your visa has not been cancelled as yet.

Your previous employer is only obliged to inform HO with 10 days after your last day.

You cannot have 2 Cos assigned to you. One employer will have to cancel the CoS first.

@CR001, Thank you so much for such a quick reply.
About not been able to have 2 COS assigned to me, if I ask my new employer to cancel that COS and then immediately apply for another COS, will the HO look at it negatively? And possibly not allocate a COS to me?
