UK husband and Us both live in the states- can we stay together?

Post by EllaAndFuzzy » Sun Oct 07, 2018 5:44 pm

My husband of seven years came over to the USA on a fiance visa, got his green card, and has been living and working in the US ever since. He has been the sole earner for our household for that entire time. Now he and I (we have no children) want to move to the UK. Obviously, he's going to have to quit his job in the states in order to move, so we'll have no income. We don't have 18600 pounds in savings. How can we meet the financial requirements? Will we have to separate for a time whilst he goes back to England and tries to find a job and a house somewhere?

To use savings, the requirement is £62,500 held for 6 months. The £18,600 is the employment salary requirement that must be met to meet the financial requirement.
Will we have to separate for a time whilst he goes back to England and tries to find a job and a house somewhere?
The British spouse can use overseas earning provided they meet the £18,600pa equivalent requirement AND has a job meeting the same requirement in the UK to start within 3 months. But yes, you are likely looking at some time apart.
