Hello all,
Just to share my experiences here having been through the same stressful moments as everyone else. Super grateful to those who shared before me, made me felt better that I am not on this journey on my own.
Application type: Set (O) via 5 year Tier 2 Visa.
My 5 year Tier 2 Visa date: 17 Dec 2018
Application submitted online date: 12th Dec 2018.
Was hoping for an appt in Sopra Steria Aberdeen Centre but for some reason, no appt available for 2 weeks in a row, couldn't see any further than 2 weeks. So ended up booking an appointment with Glasgow Centre.
Email from Home Office: 13th Dec 2018, 15 hours after submission confirming application received but also stating may take up to 6 months for decision despite paid for super priority service.
Appointment date: 21st Dec 2018 @11am, Glasgow Centre.
- Was lucky to get a free appointment but I paid GBP 35 for documents check (thinking Sopra Steria might tell me if further documents required....but this is not the case, they just check for clarity of the documents uploaded and ensure no missing pages).
- Uploaded documents 2 days prior to appointment as per guidance but also added few documents at the very last minute.
To be honest, I didn't upload as many documents as other people who share theirs here. Did made me worry for a while.
Attended appointment at 10.45am on 21st Dec 2018 and was taken in immediately. Was told luckily I uploaded all documents beforehand or there are many people in front of me who were still waiting since 9am. Staffs were very pleasant and friendly, overall had a good experience there. Biometrics and photo taken by the machine (self operated by myself, quite straight forward machine and the staffs just left me to get on with it, so I had few attempts taking a photo that I really like). Finally, left the building at 11.10am (could be earlier if I wasn't that picky with photos). Thinking retrospectively, I don't even know if the staffs checked my documents as per what I paid. Basically, the man at the counter just said "everything looks ok, I am submitting now", clicked the button and said "all done, you are good to go".
I didn't particularly ask any question having seen many asked the staffs in other centre but not get any answer. However, I did overheard a man in the next counter asked and was told " We are not home office and we have no control neither any idea how long the decision will be made".
Email sent by case worker the next day 22nd Dec 2018 at 2pm, asking for all pages in all my passports. I didn't know these needs to be submitted so went into a bit of a panic state. (I've renewed my passport 1 month prior to application as I only got less than 6 months validity). Case worker sent the email at 2pm and I've only seen it by 3pm, so ended up sending all required pages at 4pm. By then I have given up the hopeful idea of I will be getting a decision the same day since it's 1 hour away to case worker finishing time (assuming they finish at 5pm).
Didn't hear anything at all since 22nd Dec. Decided to distract myself with Christmas and New Year celebration rather than worrying.
Finally, received a surprised email from Home Office on 2nd Jan 2019 @ 7.45am saying decision had been granted and I should received my decision letter and BRP in due course.
Received nothing on 3rd Jan 2019 (possibly because 2nd Jan is a Bank Holiday in Scotland....so maybe mails are a bit stuck?)
Finally there was an attempt of delivery by DX delivery today @1pm which I missed, hopefully getting the letter finally on 7th Jan 2019.
That's my experiences. Happy to share what documents I've uploaded if anyone is interested.
Hope everyone else who are waiting get their decision soon. Good Luck!
