From Ancestry Visa to IRL as a student?

Post by studentquestion » Wed Dec 05, 2018 5:14 am

Hi all,

I'm a New Zealand citizen and am currently living in the UK on a Ancestry Visa. My Visa started on the 29th of April 2015 (with my arriving on the 26th of May 2015), and is valid until April 2020.

My question is: I have just gone back to full time tertiary study, and am fortunate enough to be being financially supported by my partner while I complete my course. When I apply for my ILR in 2020 this is likely to still be the case. We have a joint account, and money is deposited into it on a fairly regular basis, but it's not money I'm earning.

Is not having any source of income going to negatively impact my application?

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, ancestry route has no income requirement for ILR

It doesn't no, but it is an employment category visa and the main visa holder had to prove when applying for their visa that they have the intention to and will work.
