Non EEA (Australian) - Residence Stamp

Post by Tom22 » Wed Aug 06, 2008 4:52 pm

My girlfriend is from Estonia and I'll be flying there soon to get married.
We are planning to head for the UK afterwards. I also have to mention she has never worked in the UK

We have checked related links and came across the FMRS - Residence Stamp. Do you think this is our best option so we are both able to work in the UK?

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... a/fmrs.pdf

The form says that I can apply any time during my lawful stay in the UK.
Will be safe to assume that after getting married we could apply for the Residence Stamp within the UK when I just hold a tourist visa?

Also, if I'm granted the Residence Stamp will I be allowed to work straight away without any restrictions?

I haven’t research the requirements to get married but, should it be better to get an Estonian marriage certificate and then have it translated or maybe we can get a marriage certificate from the Australian consulate in Estonia in which case we can just use it in the application for the UK Residence Stamp?

Thanks
