Previous stay in the UK was beyond 6 months

Post by kharry » Wed Oct 01, 2008 8:04 pm

Need some advise.
My parents went to the UK 3 years ago to visit my sister and did not require a visa as they are South African citzns. Mom injured her leg and could not travel so they stayed for a further month. Total stay = 7mths. Upon exit their passports were endorsed due to staying beyond 6mths.

This xmas they wish to return for a 4 month visit. should they apply for a visa even though they do not require it as they risk being turned back upon entry? Where / who can provide us with further info.

Thanks in advance.

If they have IS151x stamped or written into their passports, it would be safer to seek Entry Clearance at the British High Commission in South Africa.

Take paulp's advice, without an EC they will almost certainly be refused leave to enter.
