Traveling without UK Passport

Hello, I have seen some other posts on this topic, but even after reading those I am not totally clear.

I just had my UK citizenship naturalisation ceremony and received my certificate. I have sent my BRP back as it is no longer valid. I have travel to France coming up and I will not have my UK passport in time. My plan is to travel to France on my US passport, however I am concerned about being let back in the UK - has anyone had direct experience with this? We are driving so there are no egates and I will need to be let back in via an immigration officer. I can bring my naturalisation certificate with my US passport but is that enough to get back into the UK?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

When you arrive at the UK Border Force control point show your passport plus certificate.
A British citizen cannot be refused entry to the UK - it may take extra time for them to check.
Your status may already be on their system. I have no personal experience of this but there have been a few report here that air travellers were let through without much hassle.

Hi, Did you travel without British Passport ? Have they asked you anything. I am on the same case, Can't apply for passport and I have to travel to Switzerland next week.

Can I travel on Indian Passport and I have to send my BRP card back too home Office.

Careful - the carrier won't allow you to board the return flight without a BRP (they will not recognise a naturalisation certificate).
