BRP Expiry date 2/7/22

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could offer some advise or guidance!

I'm married to a British citizen and I have an Indian Passport with ILR 'Settled' status, however my BRP shows the expiry date as being the 2/7/22. I'm assuming this means the expiry date of the card itself rather than the expiry of ILR? Also is the BRP a mandatory card which has to be renewed or is there another way to prove my ILR?

Also I was planning a trip abroad in the summer but with the BRP being expired in July, will this mean they can refuse me entry back to the UK if I don't renew the BRP?

ILR status does NOT expire, only the card does. As you are a visa national, you need a valid BRP to board a plane and return to the UK. The BRP application can take 4-6 months so apply as soon as possible.
