There is no absence limit on Spouse/partner visa route however being away for that duration may make it difficult to fulfil some requirements

What do you mean by partner visa? If he was granted a visa because his spouse was British or settled, then he is under the family route.
There are no absence limits under the family route though during such absences he must have held a valid visa
